Stripe → mailed invoice

Mail a paper copy of every finalized Stripe invoice: paperplane’s Zapier, Make, or n8n action fetches the invoice’s hosted PDF as pdf_url and mails it from $1.99 — no separate invoice-generation step.

How to set it up

  1. 1In Zapier, Make, or n8n, trigger on Stripe’s "Invoice Finalized" (or "Invoice Paid") event.
  2. 2Add the paperplane Send Letter action and map the invoice’s hosted PDF URL into pdf_url.
  3. 3Map the Stripe customer’s billing address into the to fields — most customers already have one on file.
  4. 4Sandbox-test with a real invoice, then go live so every finalized invoice mails a paper copy automatically.

What the action sends for a finalized invoice

{
  "mail_class": "first_class",
  "pdf_url": "https://pay.stripe.com/invoice/acct_.../pdf",
  "to": { "name": "Maria Alvarez", "line1": "1 Main St",
            "city": "Richmond", "state": "VA", "zip": "23220" },
  "from": { "name": "Alex Rivera", "line1": "12 Grove Ave",
            "city": "Richmond", "state": "VA", "zip": "23221" },
  "email": "alex@example.com"
}

Under the hood

Stripe already generates a print-ready, hosted PDF for every invoice — pdf_url just needs that link, so there’s no PDF-building step on paperplane’s side. The file is fetched exactly once at order time and printed as-is, the same way every other pdf_url order works.

Or skip the automation tool: ask Claude or ChatGPT

Every integration here sits on the same MCP endpoint agents use directly. Instead of wiring a trigger to an action, ask Claude or ChatGPT to draft and mail the letter. Same three tools (quote_letter, send_letter, get_letter_status), same price, same free sandbox.

Send your first letter from Stripe.

Sandbox runs the whole pipeline for free and mails nothing. Live sends start at $1.99, one all-in price.

Common questions

Does this need a custom invoice template?

No — Stripe’s own hosted invoice PDF (whatever branding/template it already uses) is what gets mailed. Customize the look in Stripe’s invoice settings, not in paperplane.

Can this mail receipts instead of invoices?

Yes — trigger on "Charge Succeeded" or "Payment Intent Succeeded" and use the charge’s receipt URL as pdf_url the same way.

What if a customer has no address on file in Stripe?

USPS verification runs before payment on every order; a missing or bad address returns a structured error instead of mailing, so the automation can skip that customer.
