PostalForm or paperplane: how to choose.
By Justin Winter · Updated October 2, 2026
The short answer
PostalForm is the closest match to paperplane: no-account letters, an API, an MCP server and international destinations. paperplane lists a lower price on First-Class letters and postcards and no account for one letter; PostalForm lists a lower Certified Mail price and covers more countries.
The math
The total for one send, all in.
| Send | paperplane |
|---|---|
| 1-page letter, First-Class | $0.99 |
| 5-page letter, First-Class | $1.99 |
| 1-page Certified Mail | $12.99 |
| 5-page Certified + Return Receipt | $15.99 |
Black and white, printing, envelope and postage included. Price the same page count in the other service's cart before you compare.
paperplane and PostalForm, side by side
| paperplane | PostalForm | |
|---|---|---|
| One-page First-Class letter | $0.99 all-in for a one-page First-Class letter | $2.20 by API ($1.80 base plus $0.20 per page; the address page counts) |
| Certified Mail letter | $12.99; $14.99 with electronic return receipt | $10.20 by API; $13.20 with electronic return receipt |
| Account to send one letter | None | Consumer flow is no-account; developer platform uses workspaces and keys |
| MCP server for AI agents | Yes: quote, send, status, buy credits, feedback | Yes: ten tools at /mcp, listed on its agents page |
| Approval step before an agent spends | You approve the exact total; the confirmation token is bound to recipient, content, class and price | Drafts and approvals with roles on its developer platform |
| Destinations | United States only | Twelve countries including Canada, the UK, Germany and France |
| Best for | A single US letter or postcard, and an agent that should mail something only after you approve the exact total. | International or Canadian registered mail, teams that want roles and approvals, and the lowest Certified price. |
Where PostalForm wins: International destinations, including registered mail to Canada. Lower Certified Mail price than ours on the API and a draft, approve and release workflow with roles. More agent tools today and a listing in the Stripe Projects catalog.
Where paperplane wins: A lower listed price on a plain First-Class letter ($0.99 against $2.20 by API) and 4x6 postcards, with no address-page charge. One letter with no account and no key: pay with a paperplane payment link and see the exact total first. A confirmation token that stops an agent sending anything other than what you quoted, plus per-key daily and monthly spend caps.
Nothing to migrate for a single letter. There is no account to move. Open the send flow, paste or upload the letter, check the preview and the total, and pay.
Moving an agent over. Add the paperplane MCP server at /api/mcp beside or instead of the PostalForm one. quote_letter returns a price and a confirmation token; send_letter needs that token. Sandbox mode mails nothing, so you can test the whole flow first.
What will not move. International mail, registered mail to Canada and role-based approvals are not available here. Keep PostalForm for those.

Questions before you send
Why not pick the cheaper one?
If price is the only thing, do. A label service costs less when you own a printer. paperplane is for when you want the whole send done: no account, no printer, the exact pages previewed free, your address checked with USPS before you pay, one all-in price.
If something goes wrong, do I pay?
If we cannot mail the letter, the hold on your card is released and you are not charged. If a letter fails after your card is charged, you are refunded automatically and in full.
