PostalForm alternatives: is paperplane the right one?
By Justin Winter · Updated October 2, 2026
The short answer
PostalForm is the closest match to paperplane: no-account letters, an API, an MCP server and international destinations. paperplane lists a lower price on First-Class letters and postcards and no account for one letter; PostalForm lists a lower Certified Mail price and covers more countries.
Why people look for an alternative to PostalForm
- Its API quote for a one-page First-Class letter is $2.20 because the required address page counts as a billable page. projects.postalform.com, checked October 2, 2026.
- Registered mail to Canada is quoted at $32 plus postage. projects.postalform.com, checked October 1, 2026.
- Bulk and assisted mailings are sold as a paid pilot from $500 for 25 to 100 recipients. postalform.com, checked October 1, 2026.

Competitor cells come from PostalForm’s own pages, last checked October 2, 2026. A cell that says “not listed” means the page did not mention it, not that the product lacks it. Prices change; check their site before you rely on a number.
Where PostalForm is the better choice
- International destinations, including registered mail to Canada.
- Lower Certified Mail price than ours on the API and a draft, approve and release workflow with roles.
- More agent tools today and a listing in the Stripe Projects catalog.
Where paperplane is the better choice
- A lower listed price on a plain First-Class letter ($0.99 against $2.20 by API) and 4x6 postcards, with no address-page charge.
- One letter with no account and no key: pay with a paperplane payment link and see the exact total first.
- A confirmation token that stops an agent sending anything other than what you quoted, plus per-key daily and monthly spend caps.
Who should switch, and who should not
Stay with PostalForm if you need: International or Canadian registered mail, teams that want roles and approvals, and the lowest Certified price.
Try paperplane if you need: A single US letter or postcard, and an agent that should mail something only after you approve the exact total.
Switching in practice
Nothing to migrate for a single letter
There is no account to move. Open the send flow, paste or upload the letter, check the preview and the total, and pay.
Moving an agent over
Add the paperplane MCP server at /api/mcp beside or instead of the PostalForm one. quote_letter returns a price and a confirmation token; send_letter needs that token. Sandbox mode mails nothing, so you can test the whole flow first.
What will not move
International mail, registered mail to Canada and role-based approvals are not available here. Keep PostalForm for those.
Other options worth a look
- Lob: Production programs sending postcards, checks or letters at volume, in more than one country.
- PostGrid: Teams mailing at volume across several countries from a CRM.
- Mailform: Overnight delivery, W-2 and statement batches, and office-suite workflows.

Questions before you send
If something goes wrong, do I pay?
If we cannot mail the letter, the hold on your card is released and you are not charged. If a letter fails after your card is charged, you are refunded automatically and in full.
Is paperplane a PostalForm alternative for AI agents?
For US mail, yes. Both offer an MCP server and an API. paperplane sends US letters, certified mail, postcards and notecards only. PostalForm covers twelve countries and lists a lower Certified Mail price, so pick on what you are sending.
Which is cheaper, PostalForm or paperplane?
It depends on the piece. On PostalForm's API a one-page First-Class letter is quoted at $2.20, and paperplane lists $0.99. PostalForm lists Certified Mail at $10.20 by API against paperplane's $12.99. Prices were read on the dates shown in the table.
Can an agent send mail without a human approving it?
Not on a single call. send_letter requires the confirmation token that quote_letter returns, and the token is tied to the exact recipient, content, class and price. Spend caps per key apply on top.
